Let Us Help You Care for Your Animal

Discover the Source of the Problem With Your Animal

If your animal is not behaving as he usually does or is showing signs of injury or illness, it is important to find the source of the problem as quickly as possible, so you can make decisions about treatment.

At Smalley's Animal Hospital, we perform comprehensive in-house blood work, which consists of complete blood count (CBC) and blood chemistry profile, which enables us to provide you with rapid and accurate laboratory tests while you wait. This allows us to treat and monitor your pet’s progress more effectively and quickly.

Digital Radiology

Smalley’s Animal Hospital is excited to now offer digital radiography. Digital radiology produces a digital image (much like your digital camera) of the radiograph (X-ray) that can be viewed on a computer station in all exam rooms and surgical suite.

This digital image significantly reduces the time required to perform a radiologic study while simultaneously increasing the image’s diagnostic information due to the increased resolution of the image.

Digital radiology also provides with the doctors the added benefit of easily sharing these images with board-certified radiologists when necessary for expert opinions or second opinions on difficult cases.

Ultrasound

Ultrasonography utilizes high-frequency sound waves to view the internal components of our patients’ bodies. The use of ultrasound is extremely beneficial in diagnosing certain disease processes, planning surgical treatments, and for evaluating heart disease. This service is provided by Dr. Michelle Hubbard almost every Friday and at other times of the week when available.

The Benefits of Telemedicine

In order to provide the most accurate and definitive care possible for your pet, it sometimes becomes necessary to send diagnostic information to our specialists at universities and laboratories to reach a diagnosis or monitor treatment.

We are capable of transmitting ECG over the telephone for consults with board-certified veterinary cardiologists to help us more readily and accurately diagnose and treat your pet.

Results from these tests are usually reported to us within hours to one day from the time of submission. We can also send digital radiographs to board-certified radiologists for further evaluation of imaging studies.
